Distributed feedback (DFB) laser diodes are fixed wavelength single mode diodes. MOVPE (metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy) of compound semiconductor material yields growth of the laser chip. To achieve frequency stability, a Bragg grating is integrated directly into the laser chip. The grating reflects a single wavelength back into the cavity, forcing a single resonant mode within the laser. The rear facet of the laser chip features a highly reflective coating, while the front facet has an antireflection coating. The resulting output is stable with a very narrow spectral linewidth, typically 10MHz.
Our DFB diodes are available from 763 to 1060nm with output powers from 50 to 150mW. They are longitudinally and spatially single mode and are available in 9mm TO packages or in TO-3 packages with an integrated thermoelectric cooler. They are ideal for a variety of applications, including spectroscopy and seismology. |
