Tapered amplifier diodes provide exceptionally bright, high-quality output. On one side of the laser chip, these lasers are identical to conventional Fabry Perot diode lasers, featuring a single mode section for spatial filtering. On the opposite side of the chip, they are broad area lasers for power amplification. The internal waveguide within the chip is tapered to provide proper matching between both sides of the laser chip. The chip is grown by MOVPE of compound semiconductor material. Due to the difference between the refractive index of the laser material and the surrounding air, the surfaces of the chip act as cavity mirrors. The rear and front facets of the laser chip come equipped with an anti-reflection coating.
Our tapered amplifier diodes are available from 735 to 1080nm with output powers from 500 to 1500mW. Applications include spectroscopy, frequency conversion, and precision measurement.
