SPM Series | Compact CW Laser Modules with Separated Geometry

The SPM Series represents Power Technology’s most compact continuous-wave laser platform, engineered for environments where precision optics and mechanical flexibility must coexist. By separating the laser head from its driver electronics, the SPM family allows unmatched mounting freedom without compromising performance, stability, or beam quality.

Designed around the same rugged architecture as our PM series, the SPM’s separated-geometry design allows integrators to position the optical head in tight or thermally sensitive locations while keeping the driver remote. This configuration minimizes mechanical strain and heat load at the point of emission.

Available in three head sizes — SPM (12.7 mm), SPMB (7.0 mm), and SPMC (5.8 mm) — the series delivers stable optical output from 375 nm to 1600 nm with sub-0.5 % noise, high polarization purity, and user-adjustable focus.

    • SPMC (5.8 mm) – supports 5.6 mm diodes (smallest PTI head option)

  • Operating voltage 3.3–9 V DC (driver-dependent)
  • Low noise < 0.5 % RMS (10 Hz–5 MHz)
  • Power stability ± 3 % over temperature
  • User-focusable glass aspheric optics

Each SPM configuration is paired with a compatible Power Technology LDP driver module:

  • LDP-201: 150 mA max, APC or CC operation, supports both N- and P-type diodes

  • LDP-214: 120 mA max, optimized for N-type diodes with monitor photodiode feedback

  • LDP-234: 120 mA max, supports P-type diodes and mixed control modes
