Power Technology Wins Global Trade Award
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., May 17, 2011 — Laser diode products manufacturer Power Technology Inc. (PTI) has received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Global Trade for Technology. The award, announced by Gov. Mike Beebe with the Arkansas District Export Council, is intended to highlight the importance of international trade on the state’s economic stability and growth.
“Power Technology is a model for Arkansas technology companies developing markets throughout the world for quality products and services produced here,” said Graham Catlett, chairman of the Governor’s Award Committee. “Power Technology and its company’s leadership are smart, innovative and flexible — all traits of highly motivated American exporters that successfully compete in today’s fast-paced global economy.”
Reaching more than 40 countries, the company delivers laser products from its Little Rock facility as well as through its sales offices in California and Canada, said William Burgess, vice president of operations. PTI has grown its exports to 20 percent of its total business with help from its network of 14 international distribution partners, he said.
