Power Technology Partners with Little Rock Film Festival For Projection Mapping

Little Rock, AR May 13, 2015 – Power Technology, Inc., a global leader of the laser and photonics industry with a groundbreaking laser light source for cinema projectors is partnering with the Little Rock Film Festival to bring projection mapping to the event.  Saturday night, at 8 pm, the Old State House will morph into a canvas for visual expression. The Little Rock Film festival is in its 9th consecutive year and is being held May 11-17 in downtown Little Rock.

Projection Mapping

Formally, projection mapping is the display of an image on an arbitrary surface. However, it is most often used to project images, animation and seemingly interactive graphics onto an architectural surface. During the closing gala of the Little Rock Film Festival, animations developed by Jason Hayne, of Balanced Lighting Systems, will be projected by Power Technology onto the Old State House in downtown Little Rock.

The Cutting Ledge

“Projection mapping and laser illuminated projection mapping are amazing technologies. I’ve seen projectors used to show ledges of buildings fall off or dragons chase anime characters. It is complex in that it uses the architecture of the building as a part of the story and the projection has to be very precise to pull it off well. But, when it is pulled off right, it is guaranteed to make you smile” said Walter Burgess Vice President of Engineering for Power Technology.
